Agave hunters, start your engines.

Tequila Ocho introduces its inaugural release of Puntas, a ‘distillers cut’ of the brand’s Plata Tequila. Bottled at 50.5% ABV, Puntas is a high-proof liquid made with agave harvested from company founder and legendary tequilero master Carlos Camarena’s family’s rancho La Ladera. To make this expression, juice of this agave is distilled and specially cut by Camarena between the end of the ‘heads’ and beginning of the ‘heart,’ resulting in what Camarena says is the most flavorful tequila.

“The initial part of the heart of the distillation is the one that I usually enjoy the most, as it carries the agave essence in its purest form. After tasting “puntas” with our distillery team at different proofs by adding small amounts of water, we were convinced that 101 has the perfect balance for this particular La Ladera expression.”

But if you plan to score a bottle of Puntas, don’t dawdle. Only 600 bottles are available in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Wahington DC, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Texas. $60
